Whilst supporting my son in his performance tennis programme, it opened my eyes to the pressures that young people can face in sport. Through my coaching sessions I combine my passion for sport, sports degree and teaching experience. My Masters in children's behaviour along with my SEN experience and therapeutic coaching qualification, amplify my goal to help students grow. Children and adults can achieve so much when they are free from fear of failure. It is my aim to provide young people with the skills, resilience and empowerment they need to face their sports - and life - head on!
I have worked as a teacher for over 20 years. I have been a head of PE, studied a Masters in Education with a focus on behaviours and also qualified as a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coordinator. I have now been a Senco for over 13 years, coach other Senco's and trainee teachers nationally and was awarded Educational Specialist of the Year. In 2018 I became Assistant Principal for Mental Health and Well-being and in 2019 gained my Diploma as a qualified Therapeutic Coach. I now focus on being a Senco and Therapeutic Coach.
I can provide one-to-one coaching or group sessions for teams. During sessions we look into patterns of behaviour such as preparation for games, eating and sleeping habits. I also teach the CBT cycle of behaviour which can help performers delve into and adjust unhelpful thinking patterns. We look at a rating wheel of sports progress and use Ideal V’s Real Self to identify and harness existing positive traits. Sessions are tailored to individual needs but always end with a visualisation or meditation practice to strengthen the parasympathetic system, enhancing the ability to remain calm under pressure.
